1G-specific someone smart look at this the a/t is dumb

well origanly the car would not move at all then we pulled the car forward a lil and i got reverse back ...that was cool reverse works like a champ like it should so i figured well i will try drive or 2nd or L but i had to take the car to about 4000 or 5000 rpms to et it to move

i figurred that the transfer case had locked up but then i took a look at the rotors and they were pretty much rusted so it wouldnt move

so i guess its not the t-case if the car runs in reverse

but why do i have to take it so high to get the damn thing to move in 2nd or L and in drive just plain old drive it just roles backwards

someone please tell me what the hell is wrong with my car

and do you think that a tranny fluid change would help the situation becasue that it my next step

so please , please , please help me i am gonna need this car for school soon

thanks again

quite possibly the end clutches in the tranny are shot. The valve body could be all clogged up. If the car has a lot of miles on it, and the tranny fluid hasn't been changed, then changind the fluid can actually make it worse. But it sounds like it's not getting any worse. So, I would bite the bullet and either yank the tranny and get another one, or have that one rebuilt.

The other thing I'm guessing, is the torque converter could be shot as well.

i agree, the tranny is shot. i'de go for a used one unless you have over 1000 to spend to get it rebuilt.
