I've got a pretty general question. I've got a A/T TSi and I was just wondering if it is normal for the BOV to leak boost when I'm not on the pedal hard.

P.S. The car is completely stock other than the tube that routes the BOV to the intake has been removed...

Greasey

did you ever use the birlliance of not doing it nad puttin gthe Line back on ....and then post if its still happening...Dont pull the recirc hose off until your way into the modification line nad on ly when you have propper setup to accomidate it....dont be a person that peopel laugh at

as he talks about brilliance...and has the worst grammar ever...
anyway.
The tube should not be off when using the stock bov, bad bad bad.
You can get away with it if you have a greddy type-s or whatever, but not stock.
Is there anything capping off the hole in the intake tube now?

But what if the car starts spuddering and stalls when he slaps on his spankin used type s and hes like WTF....unles syou hav ea way to tune the car to run wihtout the air that should be brought back into the intake dont do it....the factory does it for qa reason......I got lu cky with mine nad it didnt have any problems ...he might be too...but he will still be pig rich between shifts...and when he goes by someone and trips the BOV peopel will be like dammmm hes quick then ask to see under the hood and laugh at him...we all had our times when we did it. I did as well then learned my lesson..

Yes i have the hole capped off and it leaks when it's on there...I was thinkin' it had somethin' to do with the tranny or something b/c when it's not in boost the snail is just a big air obstruction

:shrugs:

A/T's dont blow off between shifts...so there's no pig richness.
MAF translator = vent til you puke.
:)

it cant neve rblow off on shifts...i can see under WOT but shifts on autos ive been in are longer if not WOT....or am i w rong?....id still be concerned with idling problems

An A/T shifts instantaneous, there is no lag/pause unless the tranny is in need of a rebuild :D
It idles fine as well because the bov is closed/in vacuum at that time, unless it's too soft of a setting then it will leak some.
You are right though, it is a gas waster when blowing off with it vented.

Man, I'm just curious as to why it was moved to A/T?

This did not pertain the A/T tech, is was about a leaky BOV!?!!?

Why was is moved!

Wow...first off no BOV should be vented unless you're not running the stock MAF anymore. It doesn't matter if you're AT or not, if you're cruising and take you're foot off to slow down for instance, your ECU will dump fuel, and the car will break up.. Second, yes a BOV will open under part throttle sometimes, i.e. when I accelerate and my turbo spools, then I back off the gas, the valve will open until I'm not under boost.
