What Size Stall Converter?

What is a good size stall converter that most people go to with our cars?

That is a question which is impossible to answer. The selection of a properly matched converter is dependant on the mods that the vehicle has.

For example, a vehicle with a stock engine set up needs a different converter than someone who has a 50 trim and cams.

Oh stop John, c'mon you can tell a secret. Just kidding. What's your mods? The stall should match peak torque.

Holy cow, another DSM tranny vendor. Where where you a year ago when I needed you? :) I paid too much for my level10

hahahhahaha.... John, I've beaten that story to death as well. I probably don't even have to say anything.
The question is, where have you been DSMNightmare, John's been a AT DSM vendor a while. GET WITH IT. j/k

Mike

LOL, my A/T is parked for now but we might bring it out this fall. Once I got the AWD M/T I had to run with it.

I have a 2800 converter. Peak is 268 tq @ 4300...it works beautifully I might add. I brake-torque to 3000 when racing from a stop.

Just imagine how much better it would be if you had a converter setup specifically for your car. Don't you pull through your breaks at 3000?

Never have yet. I stop at 3k to minimize wheel spin off the line. I've gone above that and never broke through the brakes yet. The guy who had the a/t built had it done at a pretty reputable shop a couple months before I bought the car. I have the papers on the job and it cost $2600 for complete build up. I had my car tuned by Garry Marsh and when we test drove it (he's one crazy ass driver I might add) he said it felt like one of the best built a/ts he's ever driven. I suspect it's built for a lot more power than I have at this point.
