Hey! I've got a qustion (of course). We just put the 7 bolt out of my wife's wrecked 2nd gen into her new 2nd gen, They are both GS-T Spyders. The car was hit from behind, and had no front end damage. After everything was in, we tried starting the car and got nothing. The engine didnt turn and the starter just clicked.

I then went down to the crank bolt and tried turning it. It took ~150 foot pounds to turn the engine! After we pulled the auto tranny back off the block today, we were able to turn the engine with absolutly no problem...

So here's the deal. I'm reasonably sure that there is not a problem with the tranny. Is ther a way to check and see if the tranny is intact (other than taking it to a shop)? Could it be in the way that the 2 are mated? What about the torque converter?

It's my wife's car and she HAS to have an auto. We could handle any problems with a manual... but damnit....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have you tried taking off the pan and looking at the fluid/pan/filter?
That can be a really good idea of what is going on in the tranny.

metal in pan=bad
burnt oil=bad
burnt smell=bad
nasty filter=bad

if you check those things and it looks pretty good, that is a fairly simple way to check the basics....not a sure way but a start at least

You probably don't have the converter properly engaged into the trans and it is binding up the engine.
