photo Changing your knock sensor (the easy way)

Ok, first make sure you know where the knock sensor is located at.

As the picture shows it's screwed into the head behind cylinder 2.

1.What you'll need:
-New Knock Sensor (around $70 at auto parts store)
- 1-1/16 Wrench (you'll have to cut it in two pieces so you're able to slide it behind the head

2.Alot of people will tell you to get to the sensor from the passenger side. DON'T DO IT!!! It's a LOT easier getting to it from the driver's side. Just slide your hand in between the Brake master cylinder and the timing belt cover, under the intake manifold bracket, and make your way towards cylinder 2. When you locate the sensor take the wrench and unscrew the old sensor.

3.The knock sensor plug is located by your cam angle sensor (or where it used to be :p). Unplug it.

4.After you unplug it, disconnect the sensor from the head and pull it out.

This is how my old sensor looked like. It's on the left. The plastic around it was molten as you can see. The new sensor is on the right.

5.Now take the new sensor, plug it in, and route the sensor towards the head (you might need to borrow a friend or whoever to pass the sensor from the passenger side to the driver side or vise versa.

6.Last but not least, screw the new sensor into the head (but not too tightly).
You're all done. I hope this article cleared up several complications and questions about knock sensor replacement.
