I'm about to install some reverse indiglo gauges that show a max speed of 160mph. Since the stock speedometer tops out at 140, I'm guessing I'll need to have mine recalibrated to suit the new gauges. Has anyone else had this done? How much did it cost for you and where did you have it done? Thanks for any input!

I dont know if that will work my guess is that ur speed is gonna be off by a lil bit and i dont think theres a thing you can do to change it because your spedometer is all elextronic....and i installed my guages but they were the same speed and everything made for my car....if i could go back in time i woudlnt have installed them they were the biggest pain in the ass ever i had to keep pullin the needle off and on off n on finally i got it set straight i think that they are off by like 1 mph tops but im still not even sure about that....if your goin to go ahead n put the guages on i would tell u to get the same ones that are made for your car the 140 mph ones....i definitely woudlt even put the 160 mph ones on ur car...not only is that a pretty dumb idea cus no stock dsm with 160 mph guage is goin to go that fast...and ur speeds are gonna be really off..whatever you do do not take the needles off....the guages have to be able to flex over the needles once the needles are off ur pretty much SOL...so whatever u do needles must stay on remember that good luck

I believe the electric speedos (2G) are calibrated off the dealer OBD-II scanner. I don't know if they could adjust to compensate for your gauge face.

Why didn't you just get the right faces?

Ok, here's what happened. I used to own a 1990 GSX slightly modified several years back and decided recently to buy a 2G GST since I've always loved the turbo eclipses. Anyways, I've picked this 96 GST up since and it was already modified with stage 1 mods, and now I'm beginning stage 2 mods. The previous owner had an indiglo overlay on but it was recently broken by some inept mechanic that worked on the car. So now I've bought reverse indiglo gauges to replace the old one.

So...out of habit based on my previous car (90 GSX speedo topped at 140), I was thinking I ordered the new gauges and would have to recalibrate the speedo to 160. Ok, so I was't thinking very much.

This is good because my new indiglos are the same ones I need, but this is bad because now I feel like an @ss. OMG

Appreciate the input!
