Question

Diodes on Capacitors

I know that I need to trickle charge my capacitors before hooking them up to the battery. What size Diodes do I need from Radio Shack? How long do I trickle charge them before hooking them up to the 12v?

I am running 3 1F caps in series, should I be running them parallel? All three are going into one very large amp. Do I trickle charge all three seperatly, and then charge them via batt? Or do I trickle charge each and keep them in Series. If anyone has any suggested wire diagrams it would be helpfull.

Thanks

I hope you havent hooked the capacitors up yet in series! If they were charged and you series them you sent over 36v to your amp. You wanna parrallel them together. And you dont want a diode to charge them you want a resistor. Just get a 5k resistor and connect the capacitor to a battery. After a second or two un hook it and let it sit a second and hook it back up. Do that until the voltage gets up to 9v or higher and then just hook it up normal.
