Exhaust tip idea. ??

I have my muffler. And I'm planning on getting it put on soon. I know I have posted alot of threads about exhaust, but just one more.

So, I want to keep a stock look since I don't plan to do any kind of major mods to my car. And I don't want people to point at it and yell "RICE!". So, I want to use the stock tips/sleve's when I get my new muffler put on. The thing is, the muffler I have is a 2.5" single in single out. And I want to keep the duel outlet look. So they would have to make some kind of Y pipe to weld the tips on, then weld it onto the muffler?? My dad is affraid my idea will not work. He thinks that by the time they make the Y pipe and mount the tips the assembly will be long. And so with my muffler being around 14"-16" long he is affraid that it will be to long once everything is put together and installed. I don't want the tips to be sticking out from behind my car. I want to tips to kinda be tucked in a little bit like they are know.

I just wanted to know if you guys think it would be to long?? If it would be to long then I'll just get an aftermarket duel outlet tip. But I was also thinkin about a single outlet tip, maybe 3.5"?? I don't know.

If you have everything there, measure it up. Measure the total length of what you want to weld up, and compare that to what's on the car.

I believe that it would be too long, if you REALLY wand oem looks with aftermarket performance, go to Ebay and get the dual tip muffler that goes with the car... you'll prob. have to search... type something like: eclipse/talon/muffler then it should come up...

mine looks just like that but is from hooker headers.

2.5" in, dual 3" out. not stock looking, but close.

edit: mine stick out a little ways since i just cut off the old muffler and didn't redo the hanging and trimming of piping as well as i should have. i might just have to fix it all this summer sometime.
