Preparing for winter? What do you do?

I am driving a beater around for the winter. My GSX is sitting outside still feeling the weather but not getting started. I just bought a beater two days ago. I am planning on getting a car cover for the car until March, when i plan to drive the car every now and then. I want to get a car cover, does any one recammend a certain one? Also i am wondering what i should do to keep my car in good health while it sits there for 2 months? Anyone have any tips! thanks for your time and the space!
