I figured I'd post some pics of the fiberglass boxes that I jsut finished... I still have to bondo and paint, but I'll worry about that a little later. I am working on a custom amp rack that goes in between the subs to hold the two amps and caps.

I'm working on a write-up on how I made these boxes too...

I am starting to make a write-up with pics from the whole process. I should have that done relatively soon.

I haven't hooked them up yet since I have to upgrade all my power wires and everything. I am going to get all the wires today and I'll probably get them wired up tomorrow. Before I was only running one amp to both of my old subs, but now I am going to bridge each amp to power a single solo-baric. The amps are RF power 500a2 amps. Its going to be a ton of power to each sub.

take your sparetire out.. i mean if you get a flat there is no way yu gonna want to ruin all your hard work just to get home etc.. so take 'er out, bu it looks good man, ill have pics of my box i made SOON. as soon as i get the bi*** carpeted a myother sub back (local audio stre keps dicki around  )

one last question.. .is there a wood enclosure inside the fiberglass.. or is the fiberglass the enclosure...how thick?

Here's some pics of the back of the boxes that were molded to the inside of the hatch area. If you guys have any more questions, let me know. I'll post the link to the writeup once I get it done.

Looking great man, it certainly seems a nice project, you should have it ready and kicking by the 13th of march shouldn't you? cause it'll be even better to apreciate that work 'live' at the meet we are having in fairfax, by the way you're coming right...!?!!!!

Nicely done.

PS: check the events board to find out about the meet in march if you didn't know about it.

i have a question... how much air space do you have, cause l7 require quite a bit from my knowledge. i like the set up im just wondering if its as deep of bass you were wanting.

phil

I'm not eactly sure about how much air space each box is yet. I'm sure I have the minimal amount of air space.

I'll have it all wired up before march, hopefully before the end of the week. I doubt it will look good... I'm probably not going to have the time to bondo and sand before then. I"m gonna look into the meet in march, since its kinda close.

before you go anyfurther, i would wire those up and listen to it.. i made a fiberglass box(40+ hours of work into it) and hooked it all up and it was a total dissappointment(sp*).. before you go through the time and effort of finishing those.. make sure they sound deece

that would suk if they sounded like $hit... I would be really pissed after all the work I did.. I'll find out in a few days once I get it all wired up...

looks good. If it soulds like shit which i hope it doesnt, have you thought about using mdf to make boxes then putting fiberglass over the boxes using polyester? Thats what im doing when i start my setup in spring

mad nice install buddy...question though what did u use to make the boxes? stretchy carpet, fleece, straight matt straight cloth etc.

Looks good bro, I'm definately going to watch this thread and your progress. I'm thinking of redoing my sub box with glass this summer. It's always nice to see new ideas and how they pan out. All the work is worth it in the end IMO.:thumb:

I got everything wired up today, after all the trouble and blowing a 100 amp fuse. It sounds awesome. I havent even been able to adjust the amp settings yet. Definitely worth all the work.

everything still looks pretty much the same... i just finally got everything wired up..

Jester
