Most places i've seen the afc is on top of the steering column, which is where mine is, where the center vents are adn in the glove box. Anyone else put it soemwhere else? I once saw an s2000 with its apexi vtech controller in the...crap i forget what its called...that sun shade thing tht folds down. LOL.....later

If you have a single DIN stereo...you can custom install it, under or over that...I have seen the sun visor thing...also on a 1G I saw it installed in the overhead console...where the map lights are...That was kinda cool...

Sorry I dont have pics for it...

I have mine installed where the sunroof visor controls are. My friend is actually doing a VFAQ on it cause several people liked it. I will get a pic of it this weekend and post it.

I put mine here, it still needs a little bit of work and could have been angled a little bit more but I like it.

Sweet! I was thinking of completely redoing my visor out of fiberglass and using some gray vinyl on it. can u give me a short write up on how you did yours?

Nice but hardly unique now adays..I have it like that too and I know of a few other guys as well with the AFC in the went along with the TT....Its a nice place though :) WIll move mine now due to risc of it being stolen..want the stealth mode now*hehehe*

how hard is it to do?? is the dash piece an aftermarket part or did you have to make it?

I made mine outta MDF and then painted it ..some mekaes it outta fiberglass and paint it.Not hard at all.I did mine in one and a half hour or maybe two..but its nothte first piece I make either.

turbo1307,
That is exactly what I was planning on doing if I got a S-AFC! I would've wanted mine angled a little more. Possibly sitting almost vertical. I was also going to switch to a 2g or 3g rear view mirror with lights. Have you done anything about losing your dome and map lights? You might see if you could pick one of those up at a scrapyard or on dsmtrader.com. Keep up the awesome work! :thumb:

I'll let him know you enjoy it. The angle isn't actually too bad for me when I sit in his car. The idea with using a 2g rear view mirror is a good one and I'll see if he is interested in it.
As for keeping up the awesome work, he will. He's got a few new ideas for custom mounting.

Hey KPWSerpiente,
If he doesn't mind I'd love to know what some of his ideas are and possibly have him build me some custom pods. I'm needing places for gauges in my 1g but don't want to use an A-pillar pod. I'm trying to keep it somewhat sleeper, and everyone uses the A-pillar for their gauges. Thanks.

hey, if youre crazy enough to do it, stick it in your steering wheel with no airbag, make a fiberglass cover and put it in there or something, other than that i cant really say anything else. i would just put it where it's easy to see, so its nothing but functional

Interesting idea about putting the gauge/S-AFC in where the air bag goes. However, the steering wheel isn't always right side up while driving. So figuring out what the gauge/S-AFC says could be a problem, causing you to look down too long, and mess up your DSM and possibly yourself without having the airbag.

I have noticed something really similar on a car (Honduh I think  ) with an aftermarket steering wheel. They put an Air/Fuel gauge in the center (like where the horn button is supposed to be). I thought this would be interesting for those with an aftermarket wheel. The difference with the air/fuel gauge though is its just a light. A glance would be all that's needed to read this gauge no matter what position is was in.

Blizz92tsi-
I'll slip you some of my ideas. What features would you be ok to lose. Such as center vent, part of your glove box or doam light. I know what you mean about keepin it stock lookin and hiding some of the things. You should look at my gallery and look where I put my tt. Send me a pm or im and I'll let you know.

turbo1307,
We must be soul mates ( LOL ) because that's exactly where I put my turbo timer. I don't want to loose my center vent because the summers here are hot and sticky. I think the dome light area might make a good place for some gauges. I don't know though. In my 2000 Eclipse I used to have the lights on the mirror where all you had and they were enough for that car. But I've never tried something like that on a 1g. What do you do for lighting? This is going to probably sound dumb, but I'd rather have the light instead of being cool and fumbling around in the dark if I have to find something at night. Let me know what you think of turning the dome light into a gauge pod, and any other ideas you come across.

spooln has his in the sun visor. I pmed him to see if he will post pics.

nothing crazy, just underneath the head unit here.
