I know its getting difficult to get your hands on HID light but I really want some but I dont know much about them. I searched on here and got some info but not enough. This may sound stupid but I really want my 95 lights to shine like evo8s. Can someone help the HID noob out?

Fitting evo8 headlights on your car is about the only way.HID retrofit kits are usually junk and dangerous to other drivers.Unless your headlight and reflector assembly are designed for HID, they are a bad idea.

retro fit HID's aren't bad for other drivers or dangerous. the kit he is talking about is is bulbs and a ballast.. a retrofit kit is projectors made for hids, they can use your headlight put the projector in and u have a real retro fit kit oem quality. if want it done i can hook you up. e-mail me @ [email protected]. if your good with tools u could put the projector in yourself or the company i work with can do it for you.. reason just the bulbs and ballast suck is.. stock non HID projectors aren't made for HID bulbs, when HID's are put in they create HOT spots wich are what blind other drivers this kit does not. i have a set in my eclipse, my wife has a set in her acura rsx.

yeah i agree with n2orbit,
most of the kits include new projectors to replace the old 1nes.
they come with a manual too so its very easy to install it yourself

In my experience with HIDs,which is pretty limited, I've never seen, heard of, or heard of anyone happy with a set of HID retrofits. If there are some, I like to hear about them, I've wanted HIDs for a while.

i am also looking into a reliable set of hid's. i was going to get an evo3 16g first, but remembered hid kits arent being made anymore, and they need to sell their inventory. are those 6000k and 8000k xenon hid kits any good? i have seen those exact ones on ebay for cheaper and would purchase them, if i can get some conformation that they arent shit. any word on them?

As mentioned you will not have a clear set of HID's if you attempt to put one of those "kits" on your car. Basically HID headlights are designed for use with HID. They have clearly defined cut off lines, which your reflector housings do not, which is the reason it's so dangerous to other drivers. In addition as mentioned because your reflectors arent designed for HID's there will be a lot of hot spots. If you are just doing it for the bling factor then fine, get a kit, but if you want truly nice lights that dont look like ass to someone who knows what they're doing then do a retrofit, meaning take the projectors ballasts and bulbs out of another car and retrofit them into your headlights. I believe www.hidtech.com is the website, they do custom retrofits if you feel you're unconfident with your own work. Just send them your headlights and you can even buy the HID parts straight from them, and they do great work as you'll see.

i now know what u mean by retro fit. i want the bling factor and quality really. basically if i could find a salvaged newer car with hid's, ill want the whole head light assembly, hid bulbs, ballasts ( the whole nine). cut out fit the projector and the housing into my own. sounds pretty complicated. maybe ill just buy the kit and smash the headlights of some poor bastards bmw and get my self some projectors too :p

thanks for the help! :thumb:

Just get some projector headlights. I don't know about the Gen 1 and 2s, but the halo projectors I have seem to be made for HIDs, they have a very distinct cut-off and are quite aimable.
The cut-off is like this(say you're sitting in car looking at them shining on a wall):

So your saying if I buy a 6000K HID kit for my car that it wont work properly? The company that I am buying it from has them on all his shop cars and he says he loves them.

I have to agree and disagree, "Gen 1 SUCKS!" Can't see for crape with them. Uses crape fog light bulbs!

Though Gen 2 are great, has better lighting then stock in my opinion.
Better alternative "if you every have to replace your stock ones"

I dont think you guys understand what I mean by "projectors." APC is crap, our "projector" headlights from the aftermarket are horrible. These are not what I am talking about. When I mention the word projector I mean the actual projector within the housing, and I mean off of another car. You actually remove the projector from another cars headlight and retrofit it into our stock headlights. Its custom work, but to get a nice HID headlight its the only way to do it. If you slap on an aftermarket kit the will have all sorts of hot spots and a horrible cutoff line that blinds oncoming drivers. To a ricer or average joe itll have the HID look, but compare your car with stock headlights and one of the aftermarket HID "kits" next to say an S2000, and the difference will be great. Dont be fooled into thinking those aftermarket kits will give you awesome HID's, theyll be HID's but far from seriously nice. The place that sells the kits obviously is telling you they work great because they sell them. As mentioned compare their kit in your car next to a car that came OEM with HID's and the difference will be pretty apparent. APC projectors are horrible and should be used only as doorstops. You might be able to retrofit a projector into an APC housing easier, but thats about it for them. Check out www.HIDforum.com if you want to read up on more info, its a pretty useful source. Also a 6000k kit will be decent, but try lower if at all possible, 4200 is what OEM HID's come in, and the closer to that number you can get the brighter and truer to sunlight they'll be. The further away from that number you go the less output and gayer the color will get.

if you really want HIDs, check out the projectors from Hella. you can get them with xenon bulbs with the projector for around 700.00 and retrofit them in your headlight assembly. Not to mention they are legal.
