Hey guys, my friend has been looking around to buy himself a nice eclipse and he found a nice AWD turbo Spyder and has an amazing deal on it. The only problem is, it's convertable. And since he'll be using it for the winter... He really doesn't want a convertable.

My question is: Would it be possible for him to get a body shop to slap a hardtop on it for him and weld it on permantly? How hard would this be? And how much would it run him, if it were possible?

Thanks in advance guys, appreciate any help.

Then don't buy one.

Essentially, no. It would _not_ be a "slap on" operation

It would be easier to walk from your house to Florida.

I'd think you could get a shop to do it for about $4000. Plus parts. O, did you want those windows to be water tight?

You could hardly call that "help".

I did a search on google and didn't seen and quick after market bolt on tops. Wouldn't be a bad idea for someone to make one though.

Why? It would be just like a normal GST and who wants one of those? Might as well say fvck it and go GSX.

WHAT??? COME ON! I live in MI, drove to Philly to get my 97 Spyder. I drive that bi*** all the time, snow, ice, whatever! I even have Firestone Firehawk tires on it, just drove home a little bit ago from my g/f's house on the snow and ice outside. Tell your buddy not to be a little bi***, who cares about driving a convertible in the winter? If he's that much of a sally, just sell it and make money and get a different car altogether.

Just my .02,
Mike

97 Spyder GS-T yes it's my daily driver

....and when he got home, HE PUT THE TOP BACK UP!

First off.. i just bought a 99 GSX spyder... considering only a handful have been converted.. id suggest that the guy deals with the convertable or finds a GSX hard top. Not sure if it is worth it to buy a spyder than convert it to a hard top (imo). heh but yes very excited bout my AWD spyder . Should keep it spyder style =P

I bought my GST Spyder last December and drove it all winter. Goes great in the snow and is toasty warm. The big deal in snow country is the salt (stored away now while truck gets salted).
