As much as I search, I simply cannot find the answer.

Im changing the color of my headliner, so it all needs to come out. I got the big part out, but the sliders for the sunroof won't come out for me. What's the trick here? Anyone ever tackle this job?

TIA.

I am not positive but i thought I read/heard somewhere that there are 4 screws on each slider that you can't see unless it is extended...open position....one of those 3 being a PITA. Let me know what you find out as I am curious for when I remove mine for a composite one.

I took out the sunroof to get to them. Then there is 4 little tabs on each one. Little tip, when you take out the sunroof leave it fully open. there will be two torx bit scres you have to take out to get under there to them. Is not hard.

...yes that is what I heard. I think it might have been from a past post of yours even? Hmm.....

Why are you taking out your sunroof? You don't have to remove the sunroof to take out your headliner.

To take out the head liner you just have to remove both A-pillars, upper rear passenger compartment panels, the trim across the back, and the rubber trim piece around the sunroof.

I'd love to take mine out and replace it with carbon fiber...but that would be a BIG project to get right and not have it leak.

Leak? The headliner has nothing to do with leaks. The sunroof _does_ leak, that's why it has that huge gutter around it with four drain pipes.

It doesn't say anything about the sunroof because you don't have to touch the sunroof to remove your headliner. You asked about removing the headliner and that post tells you exactly how to do it.

I was refering to my sunroof (even though this is a headliner thread). Come on now, I know the headliner doesn't cause leaks! Give me SOME credit! I have been operating a car for over 20 years. ;)

I heard of this before, but I haven't seen anyone actually do it.

You can jsut take the stock headliner off, coat it in fiberglass resin, sand and then paint/clear coat. I was thinking about this since my sunroof leaked for a while and the headline looks like sh%t.

Yeah sorry... my bad... I read about the sliders of the sunroof and was forgeting about the inside cover that slides.

Hrm....I have to look at it again. I know I have had those pieces out because they got wet one time when I accidentally left the sunroof open in the rain.

2g Headliner Removal If your asking about the sliders then post
2g Sunroof Silder Removal instead then and that would've kept people on the track of the topic.

If you crack your sunroof to where its angled up in the back theres two pins that you just press inwards toward the middle to remove them. You just basically have to look at them to see what I'm talking about. :)

mmk, thanks.

If you can't find them you may wanna get someone to post pics for you, I would but I took out my covers a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng time ago. They started getting on my nerves.

:thumb:

If you can post a pic of your sunroof covers from the outside I can label what I'm talking about and RE-Post the pictures if you would like.

Let me know if you can't get it... I'll take some pictures and post them. What 98RedGs said is right...after he jogged my memory I remember that you have to release them from the top.
