hey i just got a carbon fiber hood and i was woundering can you paint over carbon fiber thanks sam

well i want the different design of the carbon fiber hood beacause every 1g dsm i see has the ### turbo buble or w/e it is and i like the light weight of carbon fiber but i already have a flame scheme set up on my car and a plain grey hood wouldnt match pearl everything els

yes, check my pics in the gallery. If you just rough it up and spray thin coats of paint or use kandy without a base coat, the cf design still shows through the color. That's another cool approach to using paint with cf. I just didn't like the idea of a black hood on my car. It looks cool sometimes, I just thought it looked unfinished, kinda like a primered kit but not that bad. (not trying to sound offensive- it does look WAY better than a primered kit) Most people hate the idea tho. Each to their own. I love when cf hoods have some paint but still show some cf.

I wonder how this would look..If you were going to get the entire hood painted what if you put a :dsm: sticker on, then get the hood painted, then remove the sticker...is it that simple to have a carbon fiber :dsm: on your hood? Just a thought, maybe some of the graphics guys could do some sort of design instead of stickers,

just a thought...

hey thanks for th info i havent had much expirence paintin that graphic idea sounds awsome mabey ill try it but the c/f showin through is cool too ill be sure to put up pics as soon as she dries!!

don't use a vinyl decal. Use professional stuff and mask it out. The vinyl decal would be near impossible to remove without smudging ur paint. You don't wanna wait until the paint dries 100% to pull masking off or it can flake the paint off too, so just use the right stuff. :thumb:
