Ive heard somewhere that there is a certain brand or type of projector headlights that uses the OEM 9006 bulb instead of the cheap H3 Fog light bulb. Is this true? Rumor? Does anybody have them? Im planning on doing HID projectors sometime if i keep my car but will rather have 9006 for headlights than the small H3 bulb. Thanks for the info:thumb:

I have wondered the same thing. There doesnt seem to be much info about what kind of bulbs you can use to make them brighter.... or maybe i suck at searching.....

You can get H3 bulbs up to 130 watts. You can get 9005 bulbs at (true) 100 watts, and clip the locating flange and plug lugs to fit a 9006 installation.

Any bulb that's rated "65W -> 100W" is crap. It's just 65 watts.

So i would have to get 130watt H3 bulbs in order to make it brighter...

Whats this crazy talk about putting 9005 bulbs in there? All i have to do is make sure they are true 100 watts. I'm not understanding what you meant by "and clip the locating flange and plug lugs to fit a 9006 installation."

Any more help would be awesome, ive been driving aorund using my highbeams as regular lights.

He means you can use 9005 bulbs as low beams if you want, which is exactly what I did when I had stock headlights. If you compare a 9005 and 9006 bulb, there's only a little piece of plastic(kind of like a guide) you need to clip off for the 9005 bulb to fit the 9006 socket.

Ahh, i see what you mean now, i read it wrong at first.

Will the 9005 bulbs fit, with this mod, in my gen1 (single projector) headlights?

The 9006 to 9005 conversion sounds awesome, has anyone had any bad experiences with it. For example, damage to their headlight assembly or electrical system?
