I replaced a lamp today on my 92 talon tsi, it was 97cents - big deal - except it's the 3rd one I replaced, I figured out how they are busting! There's water in my tail reflector housing - it caused serious corrosion on the bulb's metal base and makes the bulbs extremly difficult to remove -
Anyone got a suggestion on how to remove this water?
on a side note, I bought some Di-electric grease and pumped it into the lightbulb assembly before I installed the bulb - that SHOULD prevent corrosion from happening on a massive scale and making it difficult to remove the bulb later on if water returns to the taillight.
** I thought about using a winsheild squirter pump and some rubber hose to pump the water out of the taillight - but that would require a little bit of electrical work getting power to the pump -- and - it doesnt solve the problem of -- How the water got in there in the first place.
anyone ever re-seal these if the seal was damaged or just old and caused this? - if so clear bathtub calk sound like a good idea? - and is this tail light assembly difficult to remove, repair?
I'm not buying a new one - it's not going to look right with a brand new taillight on one side of the rear of the car and an older one on the other.
