What are my wiring possibilites for 4 subs (2-12's, 2-8's) connected to a Class D mono amp that is capable of a 1-ohm load. My current 12" subs are dual 4-ohm voice coils and I have them wired for a 1-ohm load at the amp. I was thinking I might be able to round out the sound in the car a bit by adding a couple 8" subs but I want to be able to wire them in with my existing amp. Is there a way to keep the 1-ohm load with my 2 DVC subs and a pair of either SVC or DVC 8" subs? Do you think it will sound OK? I get great lows with the 12" subs but there is an area that is lacking between the sound that my 6x9's and the 12" subs are making.

I wouldnt recommend running different types of speakers off the same channel. This can be done but there isn't a way to use 4 subs and get 1 ohm if they are dual 4's. Dual 2's will work, but not 4's. The different types of subs will fight eachother. What it takes to power one will over power the other. Its catch 22.

OK, thanks for the reply. I guess I will have to drop that idea and replace my door speakers with some better ones and get a 4-channel amp to power the speakers in the factory locations. I have only replaced the rear 6x9's so far and I currently have a 2-channel amp powering them (in addition to the 2 subs and sub amp).

Ya, thats way i did. I went and got 2 6'' type e's Alpines an 2 3.5 fossgates up on the dash and 2 12's in the back. My system sounds dope and loudest at school :) and there only running off my deck. I had 2 kenwood 6'9s but they just wernt worth it. id get rid of them and buy good Alpines and better 3.5's. Just my 2 cents..LOL

You never really want to put two different sub sizes in one car. the larger sub will over power the smaller. Unless you use the 12's as subs in the rear and the 8's as a midbass away from the subs. Otherwise any good company has a good 6 1/2 for in the doors and back. Personally I like JL as I have sold and used it. And I like round speakers over ovals. And if you dont have door speakers you can get some kickpanels.
