alright i know that the short throw mod involves cutting it and then welding it back together but.... i have an aftermarket knob that doesnt screw on(has screws that clamp it on) so could i just cut some off of the top so i dont have to find someone to weld it?

In theory that sounds like it would work...but I don't know for sure if it would be the best or not.

They don't make aftermarket units for the 1g or 2g?

how does chopping down closer to the bottom make it a shorter throw?? isnt it just shortening it just in a different place
It dosent make it a short shifter. It makes it a shorter throw which makes you think its a shorter shift....

Didn't we just have this chat?

With a shorter lever, above the pivot, your hand won't have to move as far (picture the shifter on a bus coming up out of the floor versus a DSM shifter). With a true short shifter -and hold out for the B&M, despite the cost- you raise the pivot point, and change the leverage so that you get true shortening of the shifter travel.

alright i did it and managed to get off maybe an inch or so with my knob still being able to fit on. anyone know or have a knob with a wider bottom so that i can cut more off and still have the knob fit on?

there is a way to move the shifter cable like 1/2" where it bolt up to the tranny to make it really a short shifter.
