Anything I can do to help against oxidation?

Well I have a couple spots on my roof that are getting rough and light spotted. Is there anything I can do to help hide it? I was thinking of using black car wax on the roof. What are your thoughts? Also if you know of anything else let me know. Thanks in advance.

sand it down and repaint or else it'll start in on the metal.

Man, I have the same problem, its getting really bad, my roof looks TERRIBLE, my trunk is 1/2 light coloured and now my hood is going... :-( is this a problem with black cars or is it othe rcolors too?

Jim: i've seen it on red and turquoise talons, too.
I hated the white cancer spots on my black roof so I sanded it. I only got as far as priming the top, but it looks 10 times better than the white blotches. Total estimated time was about 3 hours or so.

Paint's been a bi*** since the EPA started sticking their dicks in the mix in the late seventies. Clearcoating -the "solution" to having paint formulations that won't buff up to a shine- adds another couple of layers of potential failure to the equation. Sunlight kills everything.
Next trip to the mall, stop and notice all the cars that have paint failure. In many cases you'll find sheets of it missing, down to the primer.
With the best luck, automotive paint that's exposed to the outdoors will last about a decade.

Yesterday I sanded everything down, painted and clear coated with PlasticKote (spelling?), and everything turned out great, the clear coat is not quite as shiny as factory clear coat but it looks so much better then the white fading, ever growing oxidation marks. I sanded down with super fine grit where the paint blended and you cant even really tell!
