Well.. Here i am.. 12 months later spending 3000 bux on my interior.
This time around I am getting it vinyled.
As you can see... Paint doesnt hold up to well.
Anyway.. I am doing it all the correct way this time.
Racing seats, Xtreme blue carpeting, Gauges, gauge pod, Ps2 install, Vinyl headliner, New Sony system, Sound dampening, too much goin on to list it all.. Anyway,, DONT PAINT YOUR CAR!! Pay the money. Get it vinyled!!
Notice the peeling paint. And how crappy it fades.

I painted a few things in my car, and is standing up to time pretty well. But I agree with you if you mean by painting just about everything in the car.

Is it too late to say that the blue and red dont go well together?

Well.. the pics are of the car painted...
The blue doesnt photograph properly so it looks like an odd color.
Anyway, I am doing Red vinyl, and a carbon fiber blue vinyl.
Should look good, not like what i have now.

Im sure that anyone on this board will agree, if you prep well, it wont chip or peel and if you use the right paint and clearcoat, it wont fade... Mine has held up very well since i did it a few monthes ago. No problems at all

I agree. Your interior is only as good as you make it, if your interior sux ass then thats your fault for A) doing a quick shitty job, and B) picking a shitty color. I mean light blue with red? Common man wut is that the American Pride Eclipse. I had 0 problems with my painting and I used Engine Enamel 500 paint. So someone should change this tread to WHY NOT TO PAINT YOUR INTERIOR IF YOU SUCK ASS AT PAINTING
Check my gallery to see my painting.

just get 99 all black interior with 99 black leather seats.. the driver seat being a gsx power seat.. thats my only thing iw ant to do with my interior.. but gettin all the 99 interior panels seem more harder and more expensive then all the painting and stuff yall are doing :(

sand everything down and get a proper plastic primer. Then buy paint the same brand as the primer and buy a can of clear coat as well. you should not have any problems

hmmmm you must be asian eh ?

everysingle asian in this town loves spraypaint. they even spraypaint the lower portion of there hondas to make it look like they have a bodykit on it or something. but its ugly as heck.

if you want stuff to look good do it right and dont overdo it. im going to say you overdid yours. blue and red... just to bright.

i think darker colors look good for interior or atleast one bright and the rest dark not all bright.

just my opinion though :/

All black is the way to go,or black and white. It looks sweet IMO.Once you start adding color to your interior,it starts to look a bit rediculous.Although some combinations can look nice. Its a matter of how its prepped like Chuckt said. You cant just paint your interior and expect it to look nice and hold up.You have to make sure the surface is clean, and sanded correctly. Also the right materials help.Red and Blue look TERRIBLE together. No matter what kind of blue it is.Bad color combo:barf:

you dont really need to sand much. all i did was bought some interrior plastic/vinvly spray apaint (like $12 / can) washed my interrior piecs like 3 times with dish soap and then took rubbing alcohol ot it to make sure they were clean, then sprayed lots of light coats on until i got it ho wi like. It still looks the same now as it did when i first did it over a year ago. no chipping, peeling or anything. (i used stel wool for a light sand, my car still has the original grain look to it and it looks like the car came like it)

the onyl par ti messed up was when i painted some parts of my dash black. it was a little too humid out. i need to go back and fix it but it will be easy. no problems with paint chipping at all or fading.

Vinyl does look better than spray paint, but most people dont want to spend 3k like you say you are on interior, id rather use that money on something other than vinyl...to each their own...

Check my gallery for before and after. Red and white don't go well with a Green car. Plus we didn't wait for it to dry and what not, it looked like ASS.

Finally fixed it by using a 98 GS Black interior (center consol and some peices) and I only had to (very carefully this time) paint a few peices. Looks a lot better, but till be done professionaly in the distant future

Yes i painted a few things in my interior all you need is to use some primer and a nice clear coat. i painted my dash black and my leather seats black. so now the whole inside of my car is black, with green neons. The paints help up for about 6 months with no problems. Maybe you should do some research before you paint next time.
now all i have to do is paint the ground effects black and im set.

Ok.. the blue looks odd from the digital cam pic.
It goes quite nicely together, especially with the blue
carbon fiber look vinyl that is getting installed.
Red is a hard color to blend nicely with your interior.

The 3k includes all the other crapola that is goin in. Racing seats, ps2, lcd, sound, blah blah...
The vinyl job, carpet, headliner, and rear seat reupholstering is about1400 bux for it professionally installed..

so youre basically ricing out your car, i hope you do some performance mods to it.

like they said before, if you do it right you won't have a problem. this is mine over a year and a half after i did it.

and vinyl dye > spray paint

dude you gotta be fvcking colorblind,

red and blue will not work...ever. You need harmoneous, somewhat contrasting colors. Red and blue are not it, not now, not ever. Why do you think car designers stick with either back/aluminum, black/red, white/red? Because its esthetically pleasing.... your interior looks like something from fisher-price...

I hate the fact that this thread was about painting, not color choice, but everyone wants to comment on that. Its makes some people not want to post becasue everyone wants to criticize whats not like there car or there image of what looks good.

Sorry to hear you have to spend 3k on a new interior, but in the end vinyl is better than painting. I would have tried painting before spending 3k on a new interior anyways.
