I just want to put in a dual sub configuration. I was thinking of the following setup, if you know of anything better, or cheaper, please feel free to voice your opinion. I'm looking at spending maybe $300 max for the subs and amp -->

- (2) Audiobahn AWC10T ($130)
- Kenwood KAC7201 (Not sure on price. Should be able to get it cheap from a buddy who works at BB)

P.S.- I've never had to wire dual voice coil subs before either. Only 4 ohm's. Could some point me to the best way of wiring these bad boys up?

Well, are you wanting sound quality or just loud? These subs might give you some good sq but two tens aren't going to blow the windows out or anything like that. In the matter of wiring, check out the wiring section of caraudio.com Also check out reviews on the products. Heck anything is better than factory.

Not true. I've built setups with only a single 10 which have hit in excess of 145dbs.. Audiobahn actually is not the greatest in the sq department, awesome bang for the buck as far as spl is concerned though.

As far as the amp goes, I would consider something else, you say your friend works at BB, the best amps they carry are definetly Rockford Fosgate and if you can get one for around 40% off regualr price, that would be a decent setup. Audiobahn subs seem to work best when they get alot of power and are in big ported enclosures. So don't skimp on some 100x2 wimply little amp. Invest into a substantial amp, and remember to look at RMS and not MAX power ratings.

lets say i happen to get the two audibahn's whether they be 10 or 12", i don't really know if i want to take all of that room up in that thing we try to call a "trunk" area. Would a ported box provide any sort of a sound benefit, or is it preference. Or should i get a sealed enclosure? Also, would i still be able to connect these things up if i were to get a class D mono amp, or are there also multi-channel class D amps? thanks for the help. :dsm:

*edit* : i'd probably want to wire the subs @ 2 Ohms each

Class D mono amp is DEFINETLY the way to go. It will allow the most wiring configuartions and draw less current from your electrical system. As far as going ported or sealed...I've done a few Audiobahn installs and even own one myself. I've found that ported sounds better with them, usually ported means it will play louder...but I found with mine that it is actually better sq as well...wierd, I know. I personally have a single aw1500 (older 15" high-excursion) running at 2ohms off a JBL 600.1 mono amp. I've got it in a 2.5cubic foot ported box (being this is the biggest box i can possibly fit in a Spyder's trunk).

If I were you (considering audiobahns need alot of space and you have limited trunk space)..I would go with either (2) 10's in a ported box....or a single 12 in a ported box. Either will sound awesome as long as you give them alot of power and build the box right.

I wouldnt say that audiobahn needs alot of sapce really....I got the flame Q series and they dont need all that much. There are subs out there that needs alot more for sure.I caanot say how much my needed right off of my head but htey are not too big.The reason my install looks so big is that I built panels around hte box to fill out the space and makeit show worthy....

However..the sound in the audiobahn subs are great imo..I like them alot and wouldnt change them for along time yet ;-)

i really appreciate all of your opinions and suggestions. so i'm guessing if i wanted the 12" ported audiobahns, they might not give any room to put anything at all in the hatch area, huh? Two 10"s sound just fine to me. But what sort of class d amp would i be able to get that could also be affortable. i thinking of spending no more than $250 for one. I want to save some money, and get as many opinions as possible. I've bought a bunch of car audio equipment off ebay, should i start shopping there?thanks again:dsm:

I have a JBL 600.1 on my 15...underrated at 600x1 RMS. I think I got it for around $200-$250 online. JBL is probably one of the best "budget" amps out there right now. That would be decent for those 10's...300w RMS a piece. Also, check with your buddy at BB and see what kinds of discounts he can get on the RF amps...they make a couple mono class amps, but I'm not sure if BB carries them or not. And I would try to build a box that is around 1.25-1.75 cubic feet per sub chamber, with the recommended port size.

That RF amp would probably be too small. If you can find the JBL 600.1 for around $200....I would jump on that. Hifonics isn't too bad either, but I don't have alot of experience with them so I can't give you an opinion on that particular model.
