Talon -> Eclipse Body Kit Conversion Explained

I think you forgot to mention that you need to re-wire the tailights. The harness on the eclipse taillights expect a single wire for the brake and driving lights. The Talon lights, at least on my 95, had two seperate wires for this, and only the driving lights on the talon wiring harness lined up with the single wire on the eclipse taillight harness. The result? Driving lights worked fine, but I didn't have any brake lights :) The fix was to hack things so that one set of lights in the tailights acted as just a driving light, with the other acting as a brake light. This means splicing the the wire from the talon wiring harness for the brake light directly into the bulb you want for a brake light.

Also, it should be noted that at least on my 95, the rear hatch glass had a larger black band on the bottom edge compared to an 97+ eclipse hatch. This means that you couldn't use the middle brake light from the 97+ eclipse since the black band would pretty much obscure it completely.

Hmm, just realized it would be worthy to note that the stock intercooler shrouds are different, so if someone wants to keep it with their sidemount they'll need to buy a new one.

Heh, I should've written a guide for this when I did this about three years ago but I'm a lazy bum :)

i didn't have to do any of that to my wiring. The only thing is, the outside bulb is the blinker and the inside bulb is the brake light. It's not too big of a deal, but if you want to get around that... you can change some wires around.

Wait, I must've been smoking something... I think I meant to say the turn signal and brake light are the lights that connect via a single wire on the eclipse taillights, whereas on my talon's wiring harness they were seperate. So I had turn signals and no brakes.

Anyway, it's good to know this wasn't an issue for you. However, seeing as it was one on my 95 it is worthy to note that people should double check their wiring/lights before driving off :)

yeah, definitely check your stuff out before driving off. tickets suck, and wrecks are worse (sometimes).

However mine was a 95 as well... no problems.

I also did the conversion and I didnt have a problem with the wiring harnesses at all.

Well damn you both :D I drove around for a couple days with no brake lights, and only found out when I'd taken the car to a shop for a check prior to an open track driving school. So for anyone reading this for info on how to do the conversion, just realize that at least ONE 95 talon had a problem with the taillight wiring, so you should double check everything :) Should things not work, check the wiring harnesses for my possibly unlikely mismatch.

I know that there were some little changes from the cars that were made at the end of 94 and the ones made mid 95 (both classified as 95 cars though), that could have been one of them.

I have this same issue. Turn signals but no brake lights. All tail lights turn on but no brake lights.

Can somebody explain what is a dual and single filament bulb?
And which wire on the Talon body is for the reverse lamps? the red one?
