That's "expanded metal" and is available at hardware stores. You also may try a wood stove or barbecue shop. If you Google "expanded metal" you'll find dozens of designs. Buying a small quantity is the major challenge.

Thirty-five bucks? good god. That's about six bucks worth.

thanks guys, i thought i could find it else where for cheaper. krazy, the purpose of me posting this thread was to find it cheaper man. i wasnt gonna pay that much for it.

You may be set on a metal mesh, but I went with some black plastic mesh (I think it's called hardware netting?), that has square holes at are about .5', maybe .75" wide. I installed it on my car while installing my fmic recently. It came out very nicely, and of course I'm happy as I prefer the square shape over the diamonds, as well as the black color. The only difficulty for me was finding a way to mount it. On the side holes I actually drilled small holes on the bumper cover and held the piece in place with black zip ties (thankfully this worked well as they are not noticable unless you're very close). For the center area, I kinda Macguyver'd a frame for it out of stereo backstrapping (had a bunch leftover from a stereo install). This worked pretty well as it kept the plastic mesh taut so that it wouldn't deform.

If anyone cares, hehe, I found the roll of mesh in the garden section at Home Depot (or maybe it was Lowe's, I forget).
