I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF THE INVADER HOOD COULD FIT THE GST OR GSX MODELS WITHOUT TOUCHING ANYTHING, CUZ I PLAN ON HAVING AN EXTERNAL WASTEGATE ON MANIFOLD, AND BEFORE I PURCHASE THE HOOD I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT NOTHING HITS EACHOTHER, SO ANY COMMENT OR ANYBODY WITH THIS HOOD AND CAR, COULD HELP ME OUT,

THANX U!

NO...and stop using caps. The hood hits the timing belt cover on a turbo car and the cover rubs against the hood.

are you sure? because that huge vent was originally made to provide more air directly into the turbo.

The bump was only intended for the turbo 1G's. Mistubishi kept the bump on all cars from 90-99 as there trademark style. 95-99 have no problems at all with the timing belt cover hitting. So any hood made for the 2G will fit on all models.

see thats the same type of hood that i want on my gsx, the type that shuwa29 has on there car, but theres is a non turbo. that is a invader hood rite!

Sorry, this is incorrect information. The timing belt cover DOES extend beyond the line of the hood ... and therefore a hood for the 4G63 must account for the timing belt cover. In speaking with a VIS vendor, it was stated that VIS has slightly redesigned the hood to clear the 4G63 timing belt cover, but when I bought mine that was not true ... the hood definitely rested in the cover and caused the hood to sit at a slight angle [although the VIS vendor told me I probably had the 'old' version and would exchange it I eventually went with an OEM stle carbon fiber hood.

Also, the idea thehyena gave is untrue, it is a universal design made to fit most sport compact cars to allow heat to vent from the engine bay on all cars, N/A or Turbo. The 4G63 was not a factor in its design.

As PsSsShTGSX said above, I do believe it will clear fine w/o a cover, but I'd rather not run the risk of ripping a fuel line, plug wire, or EGT probe to shreds.

Just trying to be helpful. Thanks.

Explain why this hood fits without modifications then on a GST? If there was a reason for the bump on a 2G, then this hood wouldnt fit, correct?

I have a 99 GST and Yes the hood scrapes the timing belt cover! This is the problem Im facing. Im dumping 15,000 dollars into my car in the next two weeks. Not really anybody on here what Im doing but when Im done everyone will see. Im probably going to switch to another hood, but havent decided yet. But as you can see by the pics the hood scrapes a little. It looks good though!

If you look closely you can see that the hood on the car you've posted looks to sits a at slight angle both at the fender, and front bumper cover. Would you agree? And are you certain this person hasn't removed the timing belt cover? I'm not.

I don't want to get into a debate about this ... I guess we are just attempting to fill this board with valid information using two different sources. I, for one, have a turbo car and can speak first hand from my my experience ::why would I lie, I have nothing to prove::.

Also, take Tony's_99_GST answer into consideration. Another DSMer who tried only to spend money on a hood that didn't quite fit right. It sucks, just trying to save someone grief.

I've attempted to attach a photo I just took ... I didn't use angles or put a jack under the oil pan, I promise.

Again, just trying to be helpful. Thanks.

i have a VIS invader hood on my 99GSX and i have no problems whats so ever i wanted a CF 6 vent but i was told that one would rub, but my invader hood fits just snug, i mean it could also be because i have a strut bar but the hood doesnt seem to hit anything, fits justs right....

i have the hood on my car, i have a 95 tsi, i had to cut notches in the braces on the under side of the hood to get it to close all the way, I have a accoutn with VIS, and they told me that their invader hoods are only made to fit 420a 2g cars

Yes you can get one to fit, CORRECTLY, with some modification, which aint that big of deal

i got mine to fir wit no modifications it just fits juat right no cuts not mods nuttin just bolt on and fits right....

And this is with the Cam Cover on the car? Very cool if that is the case, so I guess my seller was telling the truth then.

Thanks for the information...

yes it is wit the cam cover on, but i lied it does rud a little i think its starting to leave a little mark on the underside of the hood, i drop my hood from about half way to close it and it closes fine, i might put a small piece of foam tape or something just so it doesnt leave a mark but it does fit, i also dont know if my bumper doesnt sit right or what but there is a small gap on the right side between the head lights but when i got into my accident it was like that so i dont know if its the hood hitting the cam cover or the bumper not sitting right but either way hood pins should fix that
