Shifter noise

Ok this may seem ricey, but im curious.....on the fast and furious as well as the transporter they had manual cars (beamer and the eclipse) when they shifted..it made a kachink noise...is there any kits out there that you know of, or would home depot racing or lowes racing devopment have supplies to make it u think? thanks

Yeah, I know what your talking about. I dont know for sure what it is either. But it seems pointless. I wouldnt want some noise go "shuunnkkk" like that everytime I shifted. But thats just me

I think this has been discussed before (maybe not on this forum though), but anyway, it is just sound effects. It does sound kind of neat, but after a while, I would get tired of it.

From what I understand, it's supposed to be a metal shift plate at the base of the shifter, and the sound is supposed to show how "fast" he's shifting, coming from the shift stick hitting the plate.

I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of shifter was in the Eclipse in F&F? Cuz it made such a nice sound everytime he shifted, so I'm wondering if it was all just movie magic or if there is a real shifter like that.

And this guy isn't a newbie? (sorry I don't mean to flame but come on) If you haven't noticed the sound of shifting and the actual shifting don't match up in the movie. Check the spot right after he picks of Dom and he just gets away from the police. You hear the car shift yet you can actually see both his hands on the steering wheel. There isn't a shifter in the world that can do that. Check out Hollywood sound effects for more information

The metal shifter base spacers made a clinking sound on my old 2G. Was louder than stock, but nowhere near F&F loud.

i remember a post like this a while back, basically it was all sound effects. Maybe metal shifter bushings will help with making your car make a clicking noise when you shift.

I work in the Engineering R&D department at a company that produces custom SS accesories for transport trucks. Having access to all sorts of machinery (including CNC Laser cutting equipment), I could easily design and manufacture a "gate plate" which would provide you with the "clunking" noise you're after.

It's called a neumatic or "air assisted" shift linkage a combination of short throw shift kit stage five clutch and metal bushings is what I have and my shift clink is louder than most everyone's blow off I've seen you can look up tech specs on mittsu and it will tell you that all 2nd and I believe third gen eclipse 5speeds had this shifter linkage installed mine made noise only after a short throw kit but the 5clutch and metal bushings make it sound just like Brian's car in fast and furious
