if i decide to make an intake, ont that actualy gets cold air, could i make the proper pice out of say wood, or maby some other easly workable material, and then cover it with carbon fiber and slide off... or something that will allow me to remove the mold... this is complicated

edit: perhaps something that can disolve like cover it with carbon. then soke in water for a few days and boom tube

i dont see why not...you just need a material that would withstand the carbon fibre curing process and be able to "dissolve"
why carbon fibre? just for looks...i don't think the weight savings would really be worth the work.....but the looks sure would!

well, i mean if you think of a carbon tube that meanders through the engien bay it would look awsome, and it would be lighter, then my injen and then the eventual pvc coil air thing... you say "withstand the curing process" your talkin g about heat right... now wouldnt wax melt? perhaps some sort of disolvable clay... also i have seen carbon fabric for not that much, the tube wouldntny need to be the thickest thing, becasue there is no pressure on that side

i want to make a tube that goes from turbo to maf and then to filter, but probly a different rout to get cold air, the problem will be extending the maf harness

go to www.fiberglast.com and then check their forum under "automotive". Do a search and you will se where to buy tubing and links to make your own. Hobby rocket modlers use carbon fiber tubing for rocket bodies :) Check online and you will find.
