Clearing out the corners

I just got my 97 lights in and I want to make the corners clear. Is there a kit like for the bumper or do you do it like clears on a 1ga? With the heat gun? Let me know.

You have to melt the adhesive on the headlight housing to pry off the plastic lense and go from there.

350 degrees for like 10 minutes and then you can pry them open because the silicone or whatever it is does not hold
then you can take out that amber piece.

250 for 3 minutes tops! you don't want to cause a heat blister on the lens. low heat is fine. yes you can use the oven or a heat gun. when i did this the first time, i used a hair dryer. then when i made my angel eyes, i used the oven with low heat so no blistering would occur. and 10 minutes at 350 degrees? what the #### are you smoking?

So your telling me to take apart the light and put it in the oven? Are you sure about this? I have access to a heat gun and I would feel alot more comfortable using that instead of baking my new headlights. If I use the heat gun what all will I need to do? Just disasemble the head light and heat the back of the corner up until I can peel it off? Just want to make sure so I dont ruin my new lights, thanks.

take of the metal clips and heat up the adhesive, then pry the plastic lense off the housing.

yeah, what he said. heat gun will be fine. hey 97gs-tspyder, hit me up on aim, shuwa29 and i'll let you know what to get. my friend from california is the one who is making them now and he orders his led's from somewhere. these things are bright as hell compared to the radio shack ones.

i just did this to my 90 tsi and it took me like a total of 15 minutes including removal and installation of lights. easiest mod ever and makes the car look fantastic.

i was thinking about doing this too but i have a question.
did anyone who has done it so far, had anyproblems with moister on the inside of the lens? or does the glue seal up as good as stock when the 2 are put back together.

i cant tell you seeing as i did mine yesterday but what i did was heat it back up afterwards for a minute or two and firmly pressed the two sides together and held it. im pretty sure it sealed pretty good.

exactly what he said, once you're done, and are putting it back together, heat it up again so the silicone will loosen and then apply pressure to the headlight and as the silicone cools and hardens, you have a good seal again. hope that helps.

I tried the oven magic trick and I must admit it would have worked well, but I put them in and got to playing the new ninja gaiden (which is amazing) and when I realized what that smell was it was too late.
oh well I am going to buy a new set right now though.

We did 250 for 3 mins then pulled the light out tried seperating it and then once we got it mostly apart we just threw it back in and let it sit for a couple mins and finished it up.
