Hey Is this an acceptable way to mount 5-points?

I posted this in the track talk forumn but i dont think many people go there, I figure I would get responses here.

I have Corbeau Forzas with the seat addapter brackets from Corbeau. The G-Force Cam lock 5-Points have araived and I want to know if I can mount them as follows and they will be safe per SFI specs or SCCA, becasue ill be taking a class (not scca, bsr at summit point) and I want to make sure the bealts are mounted properly.

If people know the seat adapter brackets they will know that it is basicaly a square of 3/16" steal or perhaps thicker that bolts to the car. the bars are about an inch wide and exist on the front and sided of both brackets. it seems like it would be a very simple job to loop the belts, per instructions, around the bars and call it a day. the croch belt on the front, the lap belts on the side, and the sholder belts louped around my rear strut bar.

What do you think? Is this aceptable?

your threads been here for days and still no responses? how about a bump since i cant answer your question

Not even close to spec for SCCA road racing, but I'm not sure about BSR. If you're interested in SCCA specs, find a copy of the GCR.

i would take some extra time and do it a better way. That just doesnt seem as safe to me. But i dont know too much about mounting seatbelts.

thanks fro the bump, hey if i mout the croch and sholder belts with washers into the body, can i still mount the sholders into the strut bar? or should i add a bar that goes between the pillars that separate the front and rear windows to mount my bar to? thanks

What kind of strut bar? If it's a solid one, I'd say that would be okay (although the other would be MUCH better). If it's a DC Sports or an Ebay special or something like that, hell no.

i built it my self out of electrical tubing, so i would prbly say its not a god idea, i think im gonna make a pillar bar out of much better tubing and bolt it to the rear seat belt hard bolts... ooo home depot her i come

How did your Home Depot project go?

I talked about this with a pretty serious autocross/roadrace guy a while ago this. he said that you basically have 3 safe options. Here they are in order from best to worst:

1. Get a roll cage with a harness bar. Obviously the most expensive and troublesome, but that's the best way to do it. You want the shoulder harnesses to be as close to a 90 deg angle with your body as possible and to go straight back.

2. Mount the shoulder harness to the rear seat stock seat belt shoulder mount point. You really should have a belt that forms a Y across your body and has just 1 rear mount point. So you probably need a new harness for this. Another disadvantage is that the harness goes back a little to the left of your body. This is the most common setup I've seen for autocross/street cars.

3. Mount the 2 shoulder harnesses to the rear lower seat belt mounts. This is obviously not very close to 90 deg with your body. As long as you aren't less that 45 deg, you should be OK.

I mean, I use that strut bar attachment setup in my CRX, but I made it out of 1/8" steel and rollbar piping (DOM). I wouldn't use it with electrical tubing.
