really stupid question

ok i am picking up a new stock front bumper this friday and will be taking it into a shop shortly after to get painted. i am going to have them touch up my door handles and mirrors while they are at. i was also thinking of having them paint my tha center of my tailight. my question, dont laugh its real stupid, is, how exactly is this done? are they jus supposed to paint over it or what? i need to know so i have an idea of how much extra all this cover up painting will run me. let me know. thanks.

To paint the center piece they will need to lightly sand it down, prime it, paint it and then clear it. It's not that hard to do.

The best price in my area was $150 to paint the handles and mirrors. Probably add another 25-50 for the center piece. But, together with the bumper it may even be cheaper than this because your getting other stuff painted too.

I actually popped the center piece off and handed it to the guy to paint, that way I didn't have to worry about overspray or anything like that.. here is how mine turned out...

I was originally going to sink my money into building a full size working replica of the Batmobile from the 1st two batman movies with Keaton.... and yes there are full kits from the chassis to interior.. they are pretty cool.

So the plates are a reminder of what could have been... I was going to actually do a sub enclosure in the trunk that had a real batman head coming out of the fiberglass at you.. I have a couple of masks here to make the mold from.. just haven't gotten around to it yet.

My plate usually makes people smile...
