I bought a pair of BOSS RIP 694 from my friend, and tried putting them in..the depth on the speaker is okay, but the magnet is just TOO BIG to put there...When it comes to speakers, I pretty much only trust JBLs or Alpines (I only got the Boss's cause he gave me a good deal)..anybody have any suggestions as to what 6 x 9s I should put back there, that they know for a FACT will fit?? Also what do you have back there. Thanks. Also, if it helps, I got a 400w 4-channel amp to power them (gonna bridge em), and the stock infinity amp is gonna power the front 2.

I have RF one-way (mid-range only) in the hole, they work well...

I have Polk EX's in my spyder..... I had the same problem, so I cut the metal a little bit at a time with a dremel tool until it fit, then just transfered the shape to the other side to eliminte the guess work. I also love Alpine, I only use them and Polk

Rockford was an awesome brand, untill the contract with Circuit City and Best Buy. People were blowing theit speakers left and right, and going in to exchange them. So the quality of the products went do, in order to save money while making more to replace the broken ones....

It's kind of like the people that run around being all proud with their Memphis crap. They ALL got ripped off, unless they stole their equipment. Memphis is all Fultron stuff. If you are in an area that sold Fultron, you know they went to crap in the late 90's, so they had to sell their product under another name Memphis. So now all the beginners in the audio scene think that Memphis is a gift from God....... If you want to question this, take a look at the inside of a memphis amp, it will say Fultron... wierd eh?

RF is lower quality, as any mass produced audio component is. However, because speakers are being blown does not prove that quality is low. When I worked at Circuit City, a gentlemen employed by Bill bought a complete audio system for his Civic SI, including Alpine Type R 12" sub. This is an amazing sub. It has more punch per dollar than most, and competes directly with MTX and Kicker for db/$. Two of our 4 shop guys ran Type R's behind MTX 81000D's. No problems. But our Civic owning geek was burning his sub consistently. Why? He was turning the bass on his Alpine deck to +7. So, yes, RF's quality dropped, but not to the level that most claim, they are simply being abused in most cases.

I love them type R's man, I have a single 1041 on a water-cooled bazooka and it hits hard enough to make your throat hurt even when crusin with the top down @ 70....... Thank the Lord for alpine..... Before I knew about car audio a installer told me that was impossible in a rag top.....fugg um

well my new swetup ion the fron tof tthe car is MA Audio Y2K series 6x9 with the optional titanuim cone. In front i have the synergy series speakers and i have a ma audio ma280i 2 channel runngin them all......tomorrow i get my 800 watt mono block on the ma competition 10!!!

i have eclipse 3 ways in mine

hey, if i can get RF 6 x 9's for $40 & RF 551X for $170, then i think i'll save some money and go with that!

i've been using fosgate amps, subs, wiring and speakers for at least 3 years before Circut City and Best Buy even started carrying it, i've never had a problem with any of their stuff. anyway, i dont use the low end shit that they sell anyway....i use HX2 subs, power series amps & fanatics components....ONCE i spent 300bucks on a MB Quart sub and the wiring for one of the voice-coils inside came loose and fried that voice-coil....well u cant really run a dual-voice-coil sub at 4ohms when u only got 1 voice-coil left so that sub was trashed within like 6 months...so why bother spending all that extra money when i can get good quality subs from rockford online for less than half the price?

the 551x is the 4channel power series amp, right? its new this year, thats what i use to power the components and 6x9s....some people dont like the way RF amps sound on speakers but i think it sounds just as good as any amp...unless u wanna spend $500+...the retail on a 551x is around $400...so $170 is a good price...

eclipse is overrated honestly...everyone i know that gets eclipse setups stitches to JL RF or MA

I put infinity kappa 3 ways in, they fit but you have to put them in just right so they fit, theres not much room in there.

pioneer 2 ways

shitty, i know, but i got the pair for $40 and they beat the hell out of the infiniti paper shits that were there.
for subs though i love my 12" bazookas. yes, this is the brand that made the ### ####ing nos bass tube thing, but they're not bad.

Infinity Kappa. Nothing better IMHO. Also I'm running an Alpine S-Type sub powered by a RF amp. Good stuff, but im thinking of another S-Type and an Alpine amp.

Real quick, and not to be an ass, but 3 ways are worthless unless the mid speaker is atleast 4.5". In a 6X9 3 way speaker, the mid range is 1"-2", and the mids are lost to the low mid punch of the much larger 6X9. If you have ever heard a Bose Lifestyle system, you understand why you need larger mids for accurate sound reproduction.

Very well said!! I took out my 6x9's and put in 6.5 component set, it's polk EX, the some ones that I have in my kick panels, it sounds much better than the 6x9's
