Is the ignition ring suppose to be lit when the lights are on?

Mine only lights when I open my door, and after 10 seconds it goes off; whether my lights are on or not. I wish it would be lit at all times.

Mine comes on same as yours, but I m sure there s a way to wire it so it s always on, jsut got to find someone that knows the electronics really well. Anyone? I might want to do this if it s not to much hassle.

Well, the reason I asked is because I was gonna wire it to stay on myself actually; but wanted to make sure there just wasn't something wrong. It looks like from what I can tell is that the positive lead into the the socket for the light remains constant. It is the negative lead that cuts off when the light goes out. What I'm going to try is splice into the negative lead an run it into a line that turns on when I turn on my lights. That way, it will turn on when I open my door like normal and also turn and stay on when I turn my lights on. I'm going to try this tonight. I'll let you know if it works.

Also, if you are going to try it, be sure to pull the Radio/Room Light fuse under the hood while you're working on it. If you don't, you'll almost surely blow one of them.

It's supposed to, just like your dome light. Disconnect it and re-wire it to the gauge lights, but then you'll lose it when the lights are off (as though anyone looked for the ig switch with their eyes instead of their fingers anyway).
