Interior neons, small

I was doing the blue LED mod for my HVAC rings, but it looks pretty dim, and I'm mthinking it would be a lot easier to just get a single strong blue neon behind there... the LEDs are like 4$ + tax a piece, and I don't think it'll look good till i get another 2 or 4, and mod the little rings to take out the faded yellow crap that masks the actual icons...

But a single blue neon could maybe replace 4-6 LEDs and still be more intense... anyone know where I could find the right kind of neon for this? And how I'd go about connecting it? I guess just hook a resistor up to it and plug it in with the old LED power supply...

i dont know all these technocal terms but whats the hvac ring? is that the thing aroung the ac ? or are those the lights behind the ac controls???

1) how do you propose to shove a neon into the small hole that the light goes in.
2) ya woudlnt need a restior for a neon - they come ready to wire up.

I think he is talking about just mounting a 3inch neon behind the panel!!! I don't think it would work all that well, you would have little seeps of blue neon coming out of your dash everywhere there is a hole ... i.e. through the vents!

Not necessarily, I could isolate the area around the rings, more easily than creating cutom pieces to properly refract a bunch of LED lights...

if your talking about the little led lights that light upi your control panel on your ac you can buy some red/orange/blue led's at radio shack. just ask some one they have them there. they are like 1$ each. then you have to solder them in which isnt as hard as everyone says they are.

What about just using a 10,000 mcd blue led? I bought a hvac kit that from boostnklipse (not sure if I spelled that right). I think He used a 3,000mcd (correct me if I am wrong) and it seems like a slightly brighter single led would solve the problem.

Not to jack ur thread but i already put a blue led behind my center console, and I want to change the ring around where your key goes from being that orange color to blue. Do any of you know how to do this?..thanks

I use a 3600mcd LED. If anyone can find a higher LED, let me know.

i used a 4000mcd led in the ring, and if you position it just right it looks absolutely perfect, bright as hell.....
