Just refinished my rims last night, Take a look!

This took about 4-5 hours (for two rims), first i took the original finish off with airplane stripper. Then I masked off the polished lip and then masked the tire (this takes some patience) Then put about 5 coats of graphite duplicolor wheel paint on, and 2 coats of duplicolor clearcoat to top it off. The first rim I did has some overspray on it, It's not too noticeable so I am just gonna leave it. The 2 rims on the other side still have the original finish on them, they are both bent and I decided to buy 2 that were in better shape since this takes so much work. Overall I am very happy with the color and finish of them, They are just how I imagined they would look.

thanks, I can't wait to get the other two rims done. It feels kinda funny to drive around with one side that is gunmetal and the other side silver (I know only .0001% of people probably notice) but when I drive past a nice car, I always try to get into the right hand lane, just to see if they notice. this one kid in a civic (passenger) was eyeballing the hell out of them, that always feels good when youve dedicated an entire day to do something like this. welp, time to go to work:cry:

My mom says Im "special". But seriously those look awsome. Im curious how they will hold up through time and the elements. Good job and I hope they last.

I also am waiting to see how they hold up, they will never see salt though, we dont get snow in tucson:thumb: and:cry: at the same time (no snowboarding). It was a pita to do them so I hope they last a long time. I put 4-5 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear, so hopefully that will last a few years. any1 know a place to get some nice polished caps for the centers? I will do another set if you want, but after shipping expenses and giving me some extra & to make it worth my while, you might as well get some aftermarkets (shipping wheels and tires gets VERY expensive). Thanks for the props!

patience is one thing, but it doesn't take much talent to use spray paint, this is my first job on metal and granted, the front rim has some overspray (too thick of a coat in some spots) but i did the second one and it came out perfect. There is a real short learning curve to it, you just kinda learn that you have to spray from 10-12 inches away (like it says on the can, hehe)

actually, they are 97-99 gsx rims, their the 2 peice ones that bend really easily (suposedly) I have no problems with bending though, the road is pretty smooth anywhere I drive here in tucson. Once i really nailed this uneven pavement (I mean HARD) and it didn't bend them at all. I kinda think that whole bending thing is a fluke. Good job on your rims and thanks for the compliments!

Nice! I did that to a set of 95 GSX Swirlies. I would post a pic but my car is almost done exterior wise. So when it gets done I will post the completed pics. But anyway very nice job and have to give you big credit for taking the time to do something different and doing it right. Looking forward to seeing full pics of your car after you get them all done.:thumb:

MAN< that looks sick as hell, awsm job bro, i did mine over the weekend to, the gunmetal color some pics are in my gallery....good job, looks better than mine:thumb:
