What exactly are coustic speakers?? are they good?? i got (2) 12"'s & a box for $40 did i get ripped off?

I am not exactly sure what you got, but I don't think you got ripped off.

$40 is a good price, but they are not top quality speakers.

Naw, it's a good place to start. If you're just starting to mess with car audio you need some $40 subs to blow up. And you will blow them. Too much distortion...too much power, something will give and you will have learned a lesson. I have two JL 10w0's sitting in my closet that are locked up. That's a $150 lesson, and I'll share that wisdom with you here, if a salesman says "Sure, JL's can handle ANYTHING Kenwood can throw at them." Don't listen. He's only looking to sell you that 1000W amp rather than that 450W model. Thankfully his boss said "Sure, My salesman will pay to replace ANYTHING that his bad advice destroyed." So I got to upgrade to 10w3's for $25 each.

well, you didnt get ripped off, those are the basic level of subs. if you're new in the audio business, stick with those for a while, no sense going high end if you know nothing about it. The shoes dont make you play a game better, ya know? I've been doing audio for several years now and i know a good amount, but i still find myself learning new things. I am not saying i am the best, i'm not by far, but i know a thing or two. If you need some help or got some questions you can feel free to ask me, email me, IM me, or PM me, it's all good. I have a good sound system in my car. It's nice and obnoxiously loud, but clean at the same time. My methods have been classified as "unorthodox" but after people see or rather hear and feel the results i get nothing but respect, even in the "in progresss" stage. I have been able to break the 140.0 Db mark with a single 12 inch sub and i am still moving up. I will make a video of my next reading so ppl dont say i bullshit and i'll make sure to show the entire car so you ca nsee it's mine. good luck with your system
