amp turn off

I have a nice system 2 infinity kapas 12s in an unported box and 2 infinity kapa 10s in a custom bandpass box run by 1 US Amps 1000W rms amp. The problem is that when i change cds or change anything my max power light comes on my amp and i have to turn off my car for it to work agin. i was thinking i need a capacitor but that is $200 and if it isent the problem i could of been saving up for a amp.
any help would be great

capacitator is not the problem. sounds to me like your amp is wired up where it's seeing too low of an ohm load from your subs....it's going into protection mode so it doesn't melt itself. you're gonna have to wire your subs differently. how many channels is that amp and what ohm is it stable down to?? it's really hard to help you without actually being there, but i'll try.

Yeah, need to know the subs Ohm rating, the max ohm load of the amp...bridged or otherwise. Is it a monoblock? Post some specs. If they are all 4 Ohm speakers and you plugged them all in matching + and - then you're showing that amp a 1 Ohm load and it's probably getting hotter than your exhaust manifold.

You're best bet...still assuming that they are all 4 Ohm speakers and you're bridging an amp that is only 4 Ohm stable bridged, Link your two 10's with the + on the amp to the + on one speaker, then the - on the amp to the - on the other speaker. Then link the leftover + and - on the speakers together. That's an 8 Ohm load (Series) Now do the same with your other two speakers and you have two 8 Ohm loads in parallel making one 4 Ohm load. That should be perfect.
