paint gurus please help

well painting the the 1 st generation...... i know my color and all..... but the only thing is that my dad who is painting the car for me ( im helping with prep) told me that the black top of the car would peel real easy if it was painted.... he said it was possible with some prep... for example some primer worker.... i need some input guys im starting to sand the white paint with some 320.....

I'm hoping to have my entire car painted from top to bottom. The body shop that I will be taking it to has said there would be no issue painting the black top. They said it would come out exactly as it is now. I'm also having the repaint my side mirrors to match the top. But I'm pretty sure it will take a bit to do.
