Toronto,
Hello All,
I recently bought a 1993 Talon TSi AWD, and I've run into something I haven't seen on any other car before. In Canada we've got that daytime running light thing. Usually, the daytimes, reg headlights and the highbeams are all separate. On my car, the daytimes and the reg headlights are the same, so the headlights are on all the time. I have to turn on the lights for the fogs to come on and the only other choice I have is for the highbeams. Is this standard for Canadian models? Or is something messed up somewhere?

My 92 Tsi AWD is the same.

All park lights and headlights are on when the car is running.

When I turn the switch to what would be normally parklights,
I am able to turn on the foglights.

When I turn the switch fully, I am able to turn on the highbeam.

It was probably a cheap alternative to DRL's. Probably hard on the alternator also.

There's a 30 second mod you can do to eliminate the day light runners. I did it and it worked great! :D

Awesome, that would definitely be good. I want to put the HID's in, but if they're running all the time, that would be no good. So, what is this mod you speak of?

Haa Haa... I'm in Richmond Hill/Aurora area. The mod is easy. Take off the passanger kick panel and small plastic cover piece to the right of it. (3 screws and a couple of those plastic clips). There should be wires stuffed up in the corner against the firewall. Theres a small black box mixed in with it. Open the black box and pull out the computer chip thingy in it. Done.
