Factory alarm going off accidentally

I was bringing my friend home last night late and as i was walking to the door, he said he forgot his jacket and cd player in the car. i had already set my alarm and i guess forgot. my windows were open and i unlocked the door with the switch inside, and when he opened the door: honking and flashing for 3 minutes. after it turned off i promptly pressed the unlock button on my keychain several times, thinking this had done the trick i go to open my door and again, honking for 3 minutes. by now his parents are up and yelling at me and whatnot; making me move my car. so i drove a good mile with it honking before it finally turned off(it let me turn the car on with the key while the alarm was on). when i got home i was too paranoid to open my door and set it off again, so i just crawled out the window. so like.... why did this happen, and how do i fix it?

edit: nevermind, after a few random tries of locking and unlocking it different ways it reset and is normal again. go ahead and lock/delete this.

passenger side door.. lock then unlock w/ the key. resets the alarm.
