Trying to install my new Valentine 1 Radar to a 12V line source so I don't have to use the cigarette lighter (who was the dumbass engineer that decided to put the lighter right in the way of your shifter?! ).

Best case scenario, I'd like to have the wire running up behind the rearview so it's not obstructing my view.
Are there any? I popped the cover just behind the moonroof switch, but nothing is there. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a 2G.

Got a Voltmeter? Start checking wires. You may want to re-consider using the source on the roof, the fuse for that line is just about the draw of the motor. It should be really easy to just snake a raw cable down the A-Pillar to a switching line and ground the unit close to the roof motor. A 50ft roll of 18AWG single strand is $2.99 at Pep Boys.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.. what I ended up doing was unscrewing my driver side visor and tapping the constant 12V source that runs the garage door opener. I unscrewed the fasteners for the roof lining, spliced the adaptor in, and hid the excess wires in the A-pillar and the roof lining. I mounted the adapter for the radar and accesory in the top lefthand corner of the winshield, and mounted the detector just right of the rearview mirror. Works great, and the VAlentine has an on off switch, so I don't have to worry about draining the battery.

Note: The 12V line in the visor (garage door opener) is ALWAYS LIVE. I tapped it anyway because my radar has an on/off switch, and I always unplug it when leaving the car. (no battery worries that way) :)
