custom stereo ideas??

i need a setup idea for mounting my sub and amp in the back seat of my spyder. all ideas welcomed!!! i was going to mount the sub where your back would be but that aint happening without extreme modifications. thanks

ever seen the back of a honda CRX? i was thinkin about making my backseat kinda like that... its got a little tool box thing for stuff, and then enough room for subs built in... youll have more trunk space too

Always fire the sub into a solid surface (not seat). The reflection is better sound in most cars (especially converts) than direct radiation. For a truly custom touch, try Plexi-boxes. On subs, I like anything with an aluminum cone for strength and no smaller than a 2.5" VC. Buy amps based off RMS @ <40hz, THD @ 20hz and cooling fan availability. Forget about buying a box, always build your own (using Vof, Q and Vmax from the sub).

I've put a 15" sub and 2 amps in the trunk of a Spyder before. And the box was 2.4 cubic feet...not bad. It can be done. I'd much rather lose my trunk space than my back seat. Plus, your hard earned money is a bit more secure in a locked trunk than just sitting out in the open, especially considering you've got a convertible. Everyone will be able to see exactly what you're running, and the only thing keeping them from taking it from you is a thin fabric top.

And I speak from first hand experience...I had 2 12's in a box in the back seat of my Wrangler just as some "temporary" bump...it didn't last more than 3 days before someone cut the top and took what they wanted. Ironic thing is...they could have just un-zipped one of the windows....?? Oh well, live and learn.
