i want to do something about my heat sheild to make it look better. its dull and really not rusty, just alittle around the edges. (i did a search but didnt find all the answers i wanted.)

how does it look if you took it off and polished it with a wire brush on a drill??? what esle would i have to do to make it shine. i have a dremmel. what attachment should i use? what about that neverdull stuff?

If i paint them should i have them powder coated or can i use a high temp paint.? if so what temp?

what about removing them compleatly and useing some of that heat wrap? has anyone done that? how does it look???

I polished mine slightly with a fine wire brush and meguiars metal polish. I got bored with it and sanded it and painted it with high temp (ceramic is best) exhaust paint. It looks sweet! Don't use an enamel. (Even if it says it's high temp!) If you want a really nice finish have it powder coated!

start out with like 100 grit sandpaper and work your way up to 1200-1800 grit....will leave a mirror shine. Well it should depending on what type of metal it is...anyway that is how to shine engine parts..should work close to the same way

i took it off and used a wire brush on a drill and then did a wet sand with 400 grit paper. turned out pretty good. i would have went into more detail with it but i found that my exhaust manafold was cracked right on top under the heat sheild so im going to get a HP racing header soon. i wasnt leaking but it will soon. good excuse to get one. thanks everyone for the replys

If you want it to shield heat, the underside (against the heat source) should be polished, and the cool side should be flat black.
For blingy-blingy, you makee powdercoat chromy-color, sairor.
