Best suspension for FWD?

Initially I was recommended these: Tokico HP Springs Shocks 95 99 Eclipse Talon 2WD | eBay

but I cant find any reviews on them and need to know if they are going to do what I need. Im looking for something to keep those front wheels on the ground to avoid any wheel hop. the car is in great shape and doesnt hop, only spins but ive recently put on 100+ whp and am afraid to dig w/ it in fear or hopping and breaking.

looking for a 1.25"-1.5" MAX drop.. not too into the "stance" shit that kids like nowadays... just looking to get those front wheels sticky as possible.

anyone have any recommendations for me? It would be greatly appreciated. as you can see my price range is around 500$, maybe upwards of 700$ for the right set but this is a DD that makes 300whp, not a track car that makes 500+ :p that being said keep in mind im not shopping for the best of the best, just something to help and take a inch or so off that stock ride height.

Konis and stock springs, maybe. The shocks themselves allow for 1 inch of lowering. This way you keep your higher stock springs rates and you get great shocks.
It's tough with only $500.

Your really gonna want some coilovers and get a lil rake (higher in back) it really helped ...but I still burn 2nd at will with 300hp n LSD and coilovers..LOL (BFg drags or Hoosiers are much better)
 
Save for an extra month and do it right... I speak from buying a car with "unknown" suspension on it. All I know is its definately a little lower than stock and it beats the living sh@ out of me.

I literally drive my car only to and from work, maybe an extra 25 miles on top of that... and a mile into my drive im adjusting the back up or down, lumbar in or out, seat bottom flat or raised... it sucks major ball sack having crappy suspension on your ride. Its priority #1. After I find injectors im going to google "how to make a dsm ride like a Cadillac" and ill make it happen at whatever cost ... my back is more important than saving $200.

Im fairly certain something ebay is on my suspension now based on the other half @ssed crap on my car when I bought it. And it hurts to drive the dang thing.
 
I recommend checking used stuff from local junkyards, or classifieds. I didnt want to invest too much money to drop mine 2" and seriously thought about investing in a set of megan racing springs on stock struts. After my trip to the junkyard today I found a set of coilovers and monroe struts amongst other stuff all for 100 bux. Great day. :)
 
I hate them because they're junky. Like pretty much all asian shocks, illuminas exhibit far too much compression dampening at high speed[thanks jtoby]. There is a ratcheting effect, especially in the rear, as you go over bump and around corners, the rear end of the car just sinks lower and lower without fully extending again before the next bump in the road. It makes for shit handling and a bad ride.

The only times I ever think "my car feels nice" is on perfectly flat, new, pavement, that has a minor rolling dip in the road. The shocks excel in that. They love when the road moves away from them but freak the eff out when the road moves towards them.
The prokit + illuminas probably isn't the RRE "choice" because they're so great. They're cheap and sellable.
 
So whats the best setup. What is GC (Ground Control) is that a special type of spring different from Eibach Pro Kit spring? I'm also worried about the pivot problem with non-stock like coilovers (mentioned in Dennis Grant (DG) write up).
 
I really like my Koni yellows and Eibach Pro-kit. The only thing I can say that rides better is the Billsteins that come on an Evo MR, but they aren't available and they are a grip.

That looks nice, Are your pics with the 1.3" drop all around. I do like that a lot. Did they have to do any fabricating to get the yellows to work with Pro Kit?

Sorry for my ignorance but, is this even possible. I was looking at my front suspension last night and it appears that you could lower the front shock by sliding it lower into the control arm. I have about an inch that I could lower it. This would leave the spring load the same but lower the car about an inch. Not sure what this would do to the rest of the suspension but it seems it would be same as a shorter spring?

I will attach an image where 14 is control arm and 1 is the shock.

Yeah, its the same drop all around, but for some reason 1.2" is the number I remember. I don't think there was any fab work done, but it was a while ago. I did install camber correction kits front and rear.

No. There's a notch that "fits" the shock so if you moved it the shock wouldn't be properly seated anymore, if you could even move it. There is a welded tab to prevent such things.
