Fiber Glass Enclosures with a light weight twist

I really like this set up on Ebay.

..and I know it's been covered but, I just don't like adding alot of weight if i don't have to.

But!

What if....someone...could make this same enclosure, in fiberglass. Is it possible?

Yes, you could build it. However, it would be expensive

Is that flat? It wouldn't b to hard to make out of glass. The emblem would be easy to do as well. I like fiberglass its easy to work with but it wouldn't be to light.

Same here, I have wanted to do this for years but was too lazy. Also, I was afraid of making a mess in the car becuse I never thought of taking the trunk panel out to use as the mold.

Now that I have seen that link I will building that same box in the spring.

mine is fiberglass wrapped in swuede not to expensive either what makes it expensive is if you put a show quality paint job on it

What you're failing to realize is that enclosure in glass will weigh as much or more as one made of mdf. If you want to go lightweight, you will need to make the enclosure out of 1/2" acrylic and that is very expensive. To do it out of acrylic you're looking at least $500 in acrylic alone.

if your trying to save weight then you dont need subs at all and if you absolutely need a sub then just go to walmart and buy a cheap small 8" enclosure buy an 8" sub and get small amp of your choosing
