Door Speaker Help

I bought some 5 1/4 Clarion door speakers for my 1997 eclipse without the infinti system. Does anyone know how to make adapter plates, or have any suggestion for making these speakers fit. I also bout 6 1/2 for the rear and need them to fit to. I am trying to make my own so i dont have to spend some money but i may have to go buy some. Any help will be aprreciated guys.

y not return the 5 &1/4's, put the 6 &1/2's in the front and buy some 6x9's for the back?

bought em at a blow out deal thing so to late....i know they make adapter plates, i just was wandering if there was a way to make them

Best way to debase your sound, especially if you don't have subs...
On top of that, you're probably gonna have more rattles because of all these conversion kits you installed. More moving parts, more rattles!

I think you made a mistake by getting such a quick deal...

ok thanks for making me relize i screwed up, but thats not what im asking...im asking whats the easist way to make them fit.

What sort of tools do you have?

How much room is there between the top of the speaker and the grill/door skin? That will decide how thick the adaptor plate can be.

There are lots of easily obtained materials for making the adaptor. You can get 1/8" 5 ply at hobby shops, 1/4" plywood and hardboard at the home centers. Plexiglass will work too if your carefull.

I made these rear adaptor plates for my 6.5" Drivers from 1/4" 5 ply birch from the hobby shop. I cut the outside on a band saw and the holes with a fly cutter on my drill press. You could cut both with a sabersaw.

for 5 1/4 i dunno if they make adapter plates but they definately do for 6"...now with my case it was rare i heard cuz i had boston acoustics and the box sed 6.5" but in reality it was 6.5" oversized so the plates wouldnt fit....long story, the moral is, i ended up just buying a piece of 1/4 plywood and routing the hole just so it would fit snug n i havent had problems with the sound EXCEPT FOR THE RATTLING OF THOSE DAM DOORS!

For the fronts I'd trace the outline of the existing speakers, find the center and mark for the cutout to clear your new drivers, drill the holes and mount.

cool..the box the speakers came in has a diagram of were the wholes are and stuff kinda like a blue print. I could use this to see were the holes need to go. Im gonna check a few soundshops out and see how much there adapters are but ill probally end up making mine

Im looking to replace my speekers <infinity system> half blown whats the best speekers i can put in my 96 tsi talon awd ? i was looking at JL's
for the 6x9's and the 6.5 ?? does anyone recomend anything else ?? or think the JL's will be good enough??
