relocating car battery

Just how easy/hard would it be to put the battery in the back (hatch) maybe even in one of the side panels? I have a REALY small battery that will crank anything i have ever put it in.. lawn tractors.. big beefy V8's.. etc. so i know a DSM will be no prob.. but how hard do you think it would be to run the cabel's/wire's... and all i have to do is just splice in longer pices from the ones that are connecting to it now right? :confused:



I wana do this to free up some space and give it a "clean" look.. and maybe if i can hide it in the back make ppl wonder where the hell the battery is :thumb:
 
LOL i have no clue.. what i am going to use.. im just gona hunt around in my basement and see if i can come up with some copper wire about the same diamiter as the cables that are on the battery now..
 
the battery is about 6" x 4" x 4"

i was looking and unless i put a board or someting where the tire is in the back (remove it and the jack) and put it down there i duno if i want or can put it behind one of the pannels.. i was also just thinking it might be kinda hard to jump or something if i had to with it behind the pannel.. i think im just gona put it where the spare is and put a board across the top.. (so i can still put crap back there if i have too)
 
i may move mine, im gonna put it in the passenger back most corner of the trunk. i figure if i put it there i can run the cables up inside the car though the firewall and be on the same basic side the battery sat. this way it should be a little less work. summit racing sells kits to do this along with the battery box to make it legal to drag with it back there.
 
My Optima battery is in the spare tire well. I used Summits battery relocation kit. Along with Summits On/Off switch a Stinger 200amp fuse and Stinger distribution block up front. Wherever the wire went through metal, I wrapped a piece of radiator hose around it for extra protection.
 
its realy easy actully.

buy i think 20 feet of 4 gauge power and negtive. 2 150inline amp. and like 18 copper connectors and 1 neg and 1 pos terminal. i put my battery in the little open area to the right in our trunks. run the power up to the fuse box and start just connect them together and mount so it doest touch any of body. right after that connection put a 150 inline amp in and put on about 6'' from your batter. with your ground run up to the firewall and run all new grounds off that. in the tech section someone made a post about a 4 gauge homemade ground kit. thats it. i could take pics if you realy need them just let me know
 
I did mine, mounted it in the well passenger rear, drilled two holes to mount the battery tie down posts, make sure the motha is tie, it has a habit of wiggling around when you corner and makes some irritating noise as the battery scrapes around in the hatch
