carbon fiber hood and hatch
So I'm getting ready to have my car painted at the end of may, and my hood and hatch are f'd. I recently found a company called carbon efx that sells a oe style hood and hatch for $900 new. Too good to be true? Is anyone running these? how's the fit and finish? how's it holding up?

Any pics never heard of that brand. Also i havent seen many hatches, only hoods primarily on our cars here, and just in general, again pics, and i would contact the company since the sell them, and get fit and finish details. They are the ones who make the product.

If you look on the site, it says they make the CF doors on GASTROKER's 1000+ hp 2g, and have several pics of them on his car on the site. One would assume their products are of reasonable quality if he is running their doors on his 8 second car.

seen those pics on here, thats what got me thinking about them to start with. was just curious if anyone is running them currently and how the clear is holding up. also the only reason I'm thinking about the hatch at all is because the previous owner didn't like the stock spoiler and pulled it off. doesn't look very good now and it would take a lot of work to straighten out.

He may not be, i have not personally seen his car or asked him. But the site is specifically advertising their doors as being the ones on his car, with the caption "Thanks to GASTROKER for the pictures of his Red Eclipse with the CarbonEFX doors!".
seems like it would be a pretty bold move to advertise something as your product on your site, if its really made by someone else.
Guess someone will have to ask him to be certain.

pretty sure vis makes all theirs as they're ordered, if you called them before you placed the order i dont think they'd have a problem not drilling out the wiper motor hole.
ebay (i know most of you shun upon this place) has cf hatches for like $450 shipped. not 100% on how the fitment is but like any body kit it will take a little work to make it perfect.

I gather from reading a lot on this is that Carbon EFX is really just the old GT Fab (most likely under a new name/management). The pictures and location of their shop are identical. For a 2g, the following companies still produce:
Hood: ViS, Seibon, Carbon EFX
Hatch: ViS, Carbon EFX
There are also a few companies that used to produce carbon hoods and hatches:
Squidskins - Both Hood and Hatch
GT Fab - Both Hood and Hatch
I have a Seibon hood and am going to pick up a GT Fab Hatch this weekend. The Carbon EFX stuff looks like it's pretty nice, and $900 for a hood and hatch is a really decent price (unless they bone you for shipping). From my personal experiences, I've noticed that my Seibon hood held up a lot better than both of my friends who have ViS hoods on their cars. Take that as you will. Hope this helps!

Well that solves that, if the company is masquerading someone elses products as their own on their site, they are not a reputable company and you shouldnt purchase anything from them. Their product cant be of good quality if they need to steal pics of other companys hard work and pretend its their own.

If Carbon EFX and Gt Fab are the same company dont buy them. Although their quality and fitment is 5 stars they left a lot of peopke hanging on their group buy here in dsm tuners. I was one of the few lucky people who got theor parts, but GT fab left a lot of members here hanging...

CarbonEFX is the manufacturer. You can get them here: Carbon Fiber Hoods - 20% Off Carbon Creations and SEIBON Carbon Fiber Hoods. The CarbonEFX brand on that site is referred to as CFX in some cases.
I have this brand hood and hatch for my GSX. Good quality stuff, no complaints. It's the same as all the other fiberglass framed CF overlay parts made for our cars.
I don't believe GT Fab and CFX are one in the same. CFX is based in Nevada and GT Fab is based in southern California.

Ok im going to try and and write this without swearing...
To my knowledge, i did not buy that carbon trunk or tailight from you and if i did, then you seem to have multiple company/screen names which solves alot of questions i had about you.
That trunk is nothing to brag about either, im currently getting a new one since as you can see in the picture... it doesnt sit flush on the left side.... and was made with cheap resin that turns yellow in the sun even after i had it resprayed with top shelf clear coat
Second, i would never recommend you to anyone not even my enemies. By far THE WORST TRANSCTION i have gone through. Talking about months and months of same excuses to get my mirror brackets wrapped in carbon fiber... i can only image what getting a hood and hatch from you would be like
Ended up having to contact Ludacris twice to get your attention when you didnt bother replying to me

I'll share my .02 here. I had an Autopower roll bar for sale on here. CFEclipse and I had swapped a few PMs and then emails about trading some carbon parts for my bar, and I was more than happy with the idea of the deal, but it never went beyond that.
After a couple weeks of me sending numerous PMs, I finally got one back that claimed the parts were almost ready. After that nothing. So long story short, I ended up selling it to someone else. I can't make any claims on the quality of the products, but I can say from personal experience, the communication just flat out sucks.

I would be interested in a cf hatch later down the road. Obviously spending any kind of money I would want it to sit flush & not fade to yellow. I shall wait for more reviews.

Like I stated on another carbon fiber thread before. Material and quality is very important factor and basically determines the price of the product. Many cheap ebay carbon fiber manufacturer and sellers use cheap polyester resin which tends to crack during drying process and dont have UV resistant. Polyester resin tends to turn yellowish quick due to not been UV protected. Epoxy resin wont stress and wont crack during drying time and it comes with added UV protection. Epoxy resin is better quality and higher price tag than polyester resin. Without discussing manufacturers and sellers, thats why theres a huge price gap between small no name carbon fiber manufacturers and top notch brand manufacturers. Do some research around before buying. Whats the point of spending an estimated $400 for a carbon fiber hood that wont fit right and will turn yellow within a few months, when you can buy a $600 carbon fiber hood from a brand manufacturer and a trusted seller which will fit better and will last longer... just my 2 cents and my experience in helping my uncle at his fiberglass boat repair shop. Trust me, he has owned his own fiberglass boat repair shop for over 10 years and he has gone thru trial and error using different brand, type, quality and price resins and I myself have learned a lot about material selection.

From what I was told, GT Fab did not make yours and Gastroker's doors. They just sold them to you. CFX made them. I don't have a way to confirm this to be a fact, but I was told from what I believe to be a good source. Just FYI. I don't believe GT Fab ever made anything in CF.
