info on putting gauges in stock locations?

i want to someday down the line replace all my gauges with aftermarket ones (probably dakota digital), so how would i go about fitting those gauges in the stock locations? im sure porting of that area would be required, is it really hard to do, like almost impossible without messing something up?

i have seen a couple people do it. doesn't look that hard, just have patients
