Is there a company out there that makes an aftermarket shifter for an automatic? I know it'll be a limited search because of the overdrive button, but I'd really like to cut down that shifter height.

be careful now. The razo isn't made for our cars. It says not for mitsu on there actually. I have it. It can be made to work. I think the levocs wil work too. Some guys are getting regular AT knobs now, putting a boot on, and relocating the O/D button to a switch on the dash or somewhere. For the razo gungrip- you won't have an O/D light anymore, but if you can't tell if ur in od or not, you're in trouble. Also, mine wouldn't drop to 1. I had to use something longer than the pin they supplied. What did I use? I didn't want metal clanking around in there, but I wanted durability. I used a wooden dowel pin and cut it to a good size. No problems. The 1st time out, no O/D, but I checked fuses 1st and realized my reverse light fuse was blown. It is connected to O/D. You can see some not so close pics of it in my gallery.

Can anybbody tell me where I can get a shift knob for my 97 talon?
It has an automatic trnsmission with the overdrive on the stick?

I've always wondered when replacing the auto shifter with a knob and boot...how do you know when it's in drive, neutral, etc.???

Seems a little ricey to me...making your car look like something it's not. Kinda like those air intakes for n/a's that look like intercoolers.

i dont understand how you could put a shift boot on an auto. unless its like my g/f's car, which is retarded, and has the indicators (R,N,D...) on both the gauge bezel and the center console by the shifter.

you just have to know where the gears are. it is simple:
P

Drive
Nuetral
Reverse
(3)
2
1

i still say ESPECIALLY since people on here mess it up when they try to prove their point, that it would be kinda fruity to get a shift boot for an auto with no way to see what gear you are in...my auto gear light was out on my beretta GT one time and i drove all the way home on the freeway from a concert doing 70-80 in 2nd gear. it didnt mess it up though, luckily, since it only had 3 gears. not too long after that we changed it over to a 5 speed stick-shift.

who needs the gear indicator..jsut remember it by heart man...u drive ur car everyday ..sooner or later u dont need to look at it no more..i thinks it looks better with the boot and gear shift since its beats the hell out of the look of a auto stick with a od button...

i dont mind the different different knob, i got a different one for my auto cars, but i just think a shift boot is to "wanna-be". it is like sayin "my cars a manual, look inside and see the knob and shift boot. its just not for me...

on the 2gs, its indicated in between the tach and the speedo, any idea on how to rewire the OD button? my shifter don;t got one

I was wondering if anybody knows where I can get an aftermarket automatic shift knob w/ overdrive button. I heard of OBX and the company Napolex. Napolex looks good with the carbon fiber, but I heard that both OBX and Napolex are junk.

Does anybody know of some good quality? Thanks.

I got the razo gungrip. It took some modifying, but it wasn't hard to do. I put a wooden dowel pin in there so it had enough length to push the shiftlock down so I could drop to L. The O/D light just won't work. You can probably tap the light wire into the power wire or something tho.
