I was driving through town yesterday and it was getting icy and when I stopped at a redlight somebody rear ended me:cry: The damage is not bad there is no dent but there is a series of lines in my clearcoat where the surface of the clear coat cracked, and then one small, thin scratch, barely noticeable from more than 3 ft away. Is this something that can be buffed out and maby touched up a little where the scratch is or am I going to have to have my whole bumper redone?

You could try meguirs scratch X compound. You can try to buff it out by hand, but if you have a power buffer it would make it easier.

I cut into their lane at the last second though so it was kind of my fault... they had a shitty car and did not care so they said I could just go and they'd forget about it. There are like spider lines in my clear coat but if you run your fingernail over them you cannot even feel them... What do you's think needs done? has anyone else ever had their paint get like this?

They probably just screwed you. I'm pretty sure that when you get rear-ended there is almost no way the person who hits you can get out of it. If they clearly hit your back bumper, its their fault, and they said you could go so that they wouldn't have to pay for your car. Think about it, why would they NOT want to collect insurance money?

no matter what conditions or if they THINK it's your fault. ANY TIME you get rear-ended it is the other persons fault. they screwed you, and they said that because they knew they would have gotten in trouble even though it wasn't actually their fault.
